When Art Meets Design: Our Custom Mural Collaboration with Kourtney Cannon Art

As a boutique interior designer in Jupiter, FL, we're always looking for ways to create spaces that feel deeply personal — not just well-designed, but genuinely meaningful to the families who live in them. When we started designing our clients’ sons’ room, we knew from the beginning that we wanted something truly one-of-a-kind. Something that couldn't be bought in a store, downloaded from a design app, or replicated anywhere else.
So we called Kourtney Cannon.
A Mural Built Around a Family's Story
Kourtney Cannon is a Jupiter-based artist whose work we recently discovered and instantly admired. Her ability to translate a family's personality, memories, and sense of place into hand-painted wall art is rare — and exactly what this project called for.
This family calls Maryland home, but as passionate ocean fishermen, they chose this Jupiter property as their vacation escape. We wanted the mural to honor both places at once.

Look closely and you'll spot it: a sign that reads Maryland / Jupiter — a nod to the two worlds this family moves between. The Jupiter landmarks are all there too: the lighthouse, the palms, the waterways. But the most personal touch is the boats — they're the family's own tournament fishing boats, rendered in Kourtney's distinctive line-work style and immortalized right there on the wall.
The color palette was anchored in Sherwin-Williams Needlepoint Navy, a stunning two-toned choice we selected to ground the space with depth. The result is a mural that feels both bold and wonderfully detailed — the kind of thing you discover something new in every time you look at it.
The Response Said It All
Kourtney shared the finished room on Instagram, and the response was immediate and overwhelming. The post quickly drew over 1,000 likes and an outpouring of genuine, enthusiastic comments from the Jupiter community and beyond:
